The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launched for the first time in the Caribbean, a Creative Tech Lab initiative designed to bring together musicians and creative professionals with coders, web designers, and technologists in small teams with the aim of finding innovative ways of using new technologies to increase revenue stream and capitalise on market opportunities.
The Creative Tech Lab initiative is modelled after the Open Music Initiative’s 2017 Summer Lab which saw three Caribbean artistes travelling to Boston to explore the use of blockchain technology in the music industry.
Creative Tech Lab commenced on March 16, 2019 with a briefing lab session with a follow-up lab session on March 23, 2019. March 30-31 will see the fruition of the Creative Tech Lab experience with prototyping on the 30th and presentation of prototypes and an awards and cocktails ceremony on the 31st.

About the experience…
As intimated prior, this initiative featured technologists and music industry professionals of all types to ensure that we have a dynamic knowledge pool to pull from as we built our solution. Of course, the first benefit of participating in the tech lab lies in being able to meet so many talented professionals across the three industries I enjoy working in: business, music, and technology.
In addition to meeting amazing talents was the opportunity to learn from the perspectives and knowledge of said talents.
